Trade Show Innovation: Universal 3D Printing Software

At Formnext 2023, the new 4D_Additive software will be presented, featuring new functions, system optimizations, and direct connections to 3D printers based on standard formats.

Software pioneer CoreTechnologie will present a new version of its 4D_Additive software at the Formnext 2023 3D printing trade show. This universal 3D printing tool for additive manufacturing comes with new functions, system optimizations, and new direct connections to 3D printers based on standard formats.

The German-French software developer CoreTechnologie will showcase the new version 1.5 of the innovative printing software 4D_Additive at the Formnext trade fair in Frankfurt from November 7 to 10, 2023. Optimized functions and new direct interfaces make the tool a universal 3D printing software for any 3D printer.

Optimized Functions for Automated Processes

At the trade show, CoreTechnologie will present a new product based on the nesting functions of 4D_Additive. This product integrates fully automated nesting functions into MES systems in batch mode via a web service. With the system’s proprietary scripting language, automated nesting processes can be individually tailored to customer requirements.

The enhanced 3D nesting module generates high packing densities and achieves optimal heat distribution without hot spots. Additionally, the definition of the maximum packing density is now possible.

Complex Items at the Push of a Button

The revamped lattice functions create complex lightweight parts or individualized everyday objects such as running shoes directly from CAD models at the push of a button. All that is needed is to select the desired surface areas of the CAD model and define the wall thickness, desired structure, and cell size. This allows for the creation of complex models with just a few clicks. A total of 22 different lattice structures are available for selection.

Surface Design Made Easy

With the texture functions for creating surface designs and the connection to the Adobe Substance Community Assets, thousands of textures are available for free download to design 3D printed parts.

New Build Manager

The upgraded slicing module of the new 4D_Additive version 1.5 features a build manager for SLS and SLM printers, as well as specific image generation processes for inkjet printers. For SLS and SLM machines, laser paths and laser parameters can be freely defined and stored in the new material database. The slices for inkjet printers are defined by hollowing out the geometry with an arbitrary wall thickness and varying densities for the edge and fill areas. The slices are output as vector graphics or as bitmap images with full HD resolution.

Specific support structures for metal printing and DLP as well as SLA printing processes are other highlights of the new 4D_Additive version.
